There is no single “best” — there is the one that fits your floor
Search “best garage management software” and you will find a dozen lists, each with a different winner. The honest truth is that the right tool depends on your floor: whether you run one bay or ten, whether GST and Tally are daily reality or an afterthought, whether you want to set the software up yourself or have someone do it for you. This page names the main options an Indian workshop actually compares, describes each fairly from how they position themselves, and then says plainly where Kenro is built differently. We sell Kenro, so read the last part with that in mind — but the descriptions of the others are their own.
The main options, and who each one suits
- GaragePlugA cloud aftersales platform with digital vehicle inspection, job cards, inventory and multi-location support, and one of the strongest content and product operations in the category. It publishes subscription pricing and sells globally. A strong fit for larger, multi-brand or multi-country operations that want a polished self-serve platform.
- AutoroxAn India-and-GCC garage platform — job cards, GST billing, spare-parts inventory, with a bilingual, VAT-aware build for the Gulf. A good fit for independent and multi-branch garages that also operate, or want to operate, in the Middle East.
- AutoLeapA well-reviewed auto-repair platform built primarily for the US market. Strong on customer experience and reviews. Because it is built around US tax, workflows and pricing, an Indian shop has to fit GST, Tally and WhatsApp habits around a tool that was not designed for them.
- RAMP, TTN and other India volume playersIndia-built tools that compete on scale and reach — large installed bases, vernacular languages, WhatsApp reminders, and in some cases a spare-parts supply marketplace bolted on. A fit if breadth of network or a parts marketplace matters more to you than a system set up around your specific floor.
- Tally, Vyapar, Excel and a WhatsApp groupThe real incumbent. Most workshops run on some mix of an accounting tool, a spreadsheet and chat. It works until it doesn’t scale, doesn’t survive a staff change, and can’t answer a simple question fast. Any software above has to be clearly better than this to be worth the switch.
Where Kenro is built differently
Kenro Workshop is not trying to be the biggest network or the cheapest login. It is built around four choices that most of the tools above make the other way:
- Set up by you, guided step by stepSet up by you, guided by a checklist inside the app: paste your records from Excel or upload a CSV. Your services, bays and tax are configured by you, in the order the checklist asks, with written help on WhatsApp and email when you get stuck. Ask any tool you compare how long the first day takes and who does the work.
- India-first, not India-retrofittedGST invoices and Bill of Supply, Tally export, HSN/SAC, and WhatsApp updates drafted for you are the core of the product, not a plugin. A tool built for another market can be bent to fit India; Kenro was built here.
- Your data stays yoursStop paying and the system goes read-only — for 12 months you can open and export every record, with reminders, before the data is deleted, except records the law requires us to keep. It never locks you out or holds your history. Ask any tool you compare the same question: “how do I get all my data out, and what happens if I leave?”
- One price, no meterNo price per user and no price per job. When each job costs extra, shops stop entering every job. Then the records slowly go wrong. Kenro has one published price for unlimited users, and nothing is sold on top.
How to actually choose
Ignore the rankings and ask four questions of every tool, Kenro included. Who sets it up — you or them? Are GST, Bill of Supply and Tally native, or bolted on? Can you export everything and leave without losing your history? And is the price a flat, predictable number, or a meter that grows as you use it? The answers, not a listicle’s star rating, tell you which one fits your floor.
Where Kenro fits
If you want a system you can set up yourself in a day, built for Indian billing and WhatsApp, that never holds your data hostage, at one predictable price — that is exactly the floor Kenro is built for. If you want a global multi-brand platform, a parts marketplace, or a US-first tool, one of the others above may fit you better, and that is a fair answer too. The garage page below walks through what running on Kenro actually looks like.
